A versatile insect-like race capable of changing their physiology for battle

Well suited to survive in any environment, the Grnzz are a uniquely
adaptable race with the ability to adjust their bodies to best fit their
current condition.  This unique feature of their physiology is made possible
partly by their insect-like structure.  

In their regular form, the Grnzz are somewhat reminiscent of humans and
other common races, with a few important differences.  Instead of the more
standard skin-over-bones approach of most of the other sentient races, hard,
greenish-brown, chitinous plates protect the soft innards.  Additionally,
their facial features borrow from the insect family, with a thin, lipless,
almost beak-like mouth, and wide, faceted eyes.  

When overpowered or simply just wishing to protect themselves, the ability
to fold up neatly and compactly is a boon.  With all vulnerable extremities
drawn in close to the body and the body plating overlapping tightly, a Grnzz
in defensive form can withstand an incredible amount of abuse.  The drawback
is unfortunately severely reduced mobility, which causes an inability to
dodge or block attacks.  

A cornered or provoked Grnzz is a very dangerous thing.  In their offensive
form, they are an awesome destructive force.  Sacrificing everything in
favor of raw power and speed gives them a brute force advantage over nearly
anything, although at a great cost.  To acheive such physical prowess, the
body and limbs are extended to their maximum reach, and much of the armored
plating separates or otherwise shifts to allow for easier movement.  The end
result is a fearsome beast, covered with menacing spines, slashing with
fierce claws, and tearing through anything if finds threatening.  However,
this leaves them extremely vulnerable to weapon blows which would normally
be softened by their armor and more susceptible to magical attacks.  

These qualities allow the Grnzz to be a very versatile race, able to meet
any type of challenge that faces them with a large arsenal.  It's never safe
to assume what to expect from them.
