A stat determining awareness

Perception, or PER, is how well you're aware of yourself and your
surroundings.  The more perceptive you are, the better you can hide from
others or see hidden things, and the better you can conceal or detect
yourself, others, objects, and information in general.

Specifically for spellcasters, the more perceptive you are, the lower the
mana cost of casting spells is.  The more you know about yourself and what's
around you, the more efficiently you can use your spells to achieve the same
affect.  Also, perception increases mana regeneration, due to better
awareness of the magical energies in your environment, and it is one of three
stats contributing to your maximum total mana.
